Therapeutic Interventions in the Treatment of Eating Disorders

Speakers: 

Nicole Siegfried, PhD, CEDS is a licensed clinical psychologist and Certified Eating Disorder Specialist. She is co-Founder and Clinical Director of The Highlands Treatment Center for Eating Disorders, an affiliate of Castlewood Treatment Centers. She previously served as Clinical Director for national treatment center for eating disorders.  She was an Associate Professor of Psychology at Samford University and is currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor at UAB. She is an international presenter in the field of eating disorders and suicidality. She is a member of AED and Co-Chair of the Suicide AED Special Interest Group.

Ms. Chesnut has devoted her career to helping individuals recover from their eating disorders.   She offers a wide range of experience and understanding in her role as a therapist, clinical liaison, and eating disorder specialist.  Prior to joining the Castlewood team since it inception in 2000, she was on staff with the Menninger Clinic in clinical marketing.  Since being on staff with Castlewood she has fulfilled many roles and has remained an integral part of the development and expansion of the program. Her ability to connect with her clients with genuine compassion and care, challenge distorted thinking, and encourage them to engage in life in healthy ways has proven to be an essential part of the program. Ms. Chesnut earned a Masters of Social Work from the University of Kansas in 1995.  She has been trained in Internal Family Systems Theory for 11 years and is a level One trainer.  Most recently, Theresa has been working in Monterey Bay, CA , to assist in the start up of Castlewood’s affiliate, Monarch Cove Residential Program.  She lectures regionally and nationally about therapeutic  interventions throughout the recovery process.  She is the current Vice Chair for the Binge Eating Disorder Association (BEDA), as well as sits on the San Francisco Chapter of IAEDP.

Learning Objectives: 

1. Participants will be able to implement assessment tools for suicidal clients with eating disorders.
2.  Participants will be able to summarize the latest research related to eating disorders and suicidality
3. Participants will be able to implement at least 3 interventions for clients with eating disorders.
